Past Exhibits:  A Special Exhibit of Civil War Bibles

An artifactual tribute to the faith that underlay the political convictions and personal character of thousands of soldiers in blue and gray.

The "Soldier’s Bible," a special exhibit held in March, 2003 on the Town Square in Collierville in participation with the "Civil War Days in Collierville." The exhibit included several original Bibles from the Civil War. Bibles on loan will be from the Carter House Museum in Franklin, TN, Shiloh National Military Park in Shiloh, TN and private collectors. An image of a soldier with a family Bible is courtesy of the Museum of the Confederacy in Richmond, VA. The Biblical Resource Center & Museum sponsored the exhibit.

The leaflet includes an introduction to the exhibit, a list of the collection, and historical summary showing the role of the Bible in the soldier’s life.
